FF6 Orchestral Remix: The Mystical Phantom Forest

I finally did it. I remixed this song for a full orchestra! This is my orchestral cover of Phantom Forest, or "Mystic Forest" from Final Fantasy 6, originally composed by my beloved idol, Nobuo Uematsu. You can imagine my joy when they played a version of this live in Vancouver at Distant Worlds. I was most happy about that and Dalmaca Estersand, but I digress. I have always enjoyed the soothing, yet mysterious atmosphere of FF6's forest level. The music is, in part, responsible for this. The pictures I used in this video are all free desktop backgrounds I found and edited to look more like the forest from the game. I hope you guys can get into the video as well as my song, and that beautiful emotions will wash over you as you listen.

42. RebeccaETripp: +Jeremy Kaiser It's not perfectly loopable, since it has a bunch of different movements- but this is possible with a bit of work. I've had a couple people ask me to do extended versions of my remixes now, so it might be something I'll get to in the future. For now, my work load is pretty big, but thanks for the suggestion. I'm glad you liked it so much that you would want to hear it for half an hour straight! :D I have a 22 minute FF6 orchestral medley, in case you're interested, and I'm planning on doing another one as well (to get the rest of the FF6 OST that wasn't in the first one.) I also have a 10 minute FF forest tunes medley that is aesthetically similar to this for relaxing background music.

I loved the music in FF6 more than any other game growing up, and I didn't actually even own the game.  I recorded some of my favorite songs by holding a tape recorder near our crappy TV's mono sound speaker and would listen to them on road trips and such.  The OST is packed with amazing stuff, but if I had to pick one song as my favorite, it would be The Phantom Forest.  It's a perfect mix of mysterious, sad, and hopeful.  And it's just incredibly beautiful. Great job remaking the best song from my childhood!
